Just checking in

Really this is a note to let you all know we are still here and have not disappeared. The truth is I have wanted to blog so much, but I am always too tired or not inspired or have at least 1 kid breathing down my neck for attention.

So rather than write something inspiring or about politics, which I did write, but then decided to take it down the next day because it sounded very prejudice. This a mere attempt at a 5min run down about what we have been doing for the last month and a half and I will try to throw in a few things about us and the kids too. Of course this is the 3rd time I have edited this in the last hour after I have posted it. So with out further ado here we go......

Dit left on July 16 and we had a relatively quiet 3 weeks, sprinkled with some Shabbos guests. D went on vacation Aug. 1 and although I was not as productive as I wanted to be, I did get some stuff done. Last week, Aug. 10 was S's first week of vacation and we had one of his friends from Jerusalem stay with us from Tues.-Sun. I would love to expand on this, but it will have to wait. Suffice to say that this was our first experience at having someone's little kid stay with us over night with out parents period, so to jump in for a week was an experience, but actually went pretty well. It was also S's first sleep over with a friend another thing I could expand on but will take too long. This week and next week we are having a15 yr. stay with us. We are friends with his family who live in Portland. Next week we will be hosting S's friend from Jerusalem again and we will have his 13 year old brother as well. Their baby sister is in the hospital and the parents needed some space to take care of her and things related. The kids all get along well so it should be fine and with 2 big boys here it means they can take the kids to the park. The week after next school starts again on Sept. 1 and S will be in kindergarten! So many thoughts in my head, but so little time. Also in the works for future plans are a nephew who should be making an appearance into the world sometime Friday in Portland, Or. and my mom and aunt will arrive here Oct. 14 for a two week visit! Then after that we have our regularly scheduled fall visit from Grammy and Grandpa J. In between that we will be starting high holidays Sept. 30 and then finishing on Oct. 22ish. Soooo if you don't here from us for a while you will know why.

Now here are some fun facts about us and what the kids are doing and things I have learned.

1) The kids will eat anything with ketchup on it. This is ranks up there with peanut butter. The kids eat it as sandwiches, on cucumbers, carrots and will eat plain if given the chance.

2) Y is the worlds pickiest dresser at 2! He will actually refuse to wear a large portion of his shorts and t-shirts because he doesn't like them! He cries and then strips! This makes me cry!

3) Kids are like plants, add water and food and a bit of sunshine and they grow like crazy! S is going to need his third pair of shoes for the summer! M is also moving right along!

4) It really is the little things that count. I can spend somewhere between 1.00-2.00 total for my kids on bubbles, or a cheap kite and they are as excited as if I spent a million.

5) Getting everyone a Popsicle after school on a hot day for a total of $1.15 is considered a real treat and a picnic because we ate them outside in the courtyard of the mall. Again it is the little things.

6) That it is possible to go through 2 liters of cooking oil, approx. 4 &1/2 lbs. of oatmeal and approx. 12lbs. of flour in a week and half if you feed enough people.

7) What I learned about myself is that I love being around music and that if I am in a stressed out mood it can really calm me down. It was kind of a duh...moment.

8) And finally that technology is something so cool yet, we take for granted so much. I was the first one to hear that one of my best girlfriends was 4mo. pregnant, a pleasant shock for her and her husband. She lives in Portland and even though I live in Israel she could reach me by phone, but not her husband because he was in Estacada with no cell phone coverage. Now how do you like that? And despite the fact that I live a world away from everyone, I am update on everyone's comings and goings and thanks to e-mail I am even re-connecting with some of my friends in a way that I have not in years.

OK my five minutes are beyond up so I am signing off with the hopes that there will be more to come!
