Tuesay's Tip, one day late........

I totally spaced my blog yesterday as D was home sick, surprise, surprise, with all the germs from the kids. Anyway, so it means I got to run errands with out an audience but keeps me busy too.

My tip for this week, obvious I know, but popcorn. I have secret crush on the person who invented the air popper. We use ours almost everyday. We get a healthy, no sugar, no fat, add as much or as little salt, oil or butter as desired and poof the perfect snack! It also makes a great late night snack for eema and aaba movie night. We make carmel corn, which I have a great recipe for that does not use corn syrup. We buy about a kilo (2.2lbs) every other week. It costs about $2.25 a bag. I use it for after school snacks, I take it to the park in lieu of chips or other mystery snacks or a before dinner snack because we got home late and dinner will be late filler and as dessert as I said. On Shabbat we don't cook so I try to pop 2 batches ahead of time and I store in a re-usable container and we can have popcorn on Shabbat too. It keeps great. Our last batch made it in to Monday, although that is not the norm. I think that is when everyone got sick......... I love having something cheap, easy and with no preservatives and no sugar that I can give the kids and have them feel like it is a treat.

Little E is a popcorn fan. However, there is one family tendency he has developed. The desire to eat lots and lots of something and then to not want it for a long time. Today it seems to be orange juice on the crave list.
